It was more than an examination. It was hope in action.

On Saturday, 63 brilliant secondary school students from across Mbaise and Imo State generally converged at Mother Mary Coleman Memorial Girls’ Secondary School, Ogbor Nguru, to write not just a Mathematics examination, but their own future – at the Championship Stage of the 6th All Mbaise Senior Secondary Schools Mathematics Competition (AMSSSMC), organized by Amaraya Foundation.

With hearts full of ambition and minds sharpened for excellence, these young champions, selected from many, stepped forward to prove that Imo State’s future is bright, intelligent, and unstoppable.

Of the 66 candidates scheduled for this decisive stage, 63 were present, their determination defying all odds, their eyes fixed on the coveted crown of mathematical excellence.

A Day of Purpose, Passion and Precision

The day began as early as 8:30 a.m., when the Amaraya Foundation delegation departed Amaraya House for the venue, carrying with them a mission – touching lives through education.

Accreditation ran from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., ushering in a warm and inspiring welcome address by the Manager of Mother Mary Coleman Memorial Girls’ Secondary School, Rev. Fr. Valentine Emeronye.

The atmosphere turned solemn yet uplifting as Rev. Fr. Efechi Marizu welcomed the candidates, offered the opening prayer, and introduced the soul of the Foundation – the Amaraya Foundation Anthem. With lyrics shared and voices united, the students sang with pride before observing the National Anthems.

Director of Administration, Mr. Kaycee Onyewuenyi, then set the tone for integrity and order as he unveiled the examination guidelines.

From 9:50 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., examination materials were distributed and latecomers accredited. At exactly 10:55 a.m., silence fell. Pens moved. Minds raced. Dreams were being calculated.

For nearly three hours, until 1:50 p.m., 63 young Imo stars wrestled with numbers, solved with courage, and proved that Mathematics is not to be feared, but to be loved.

Beyond the Scripts: Voices That Matter

In its true tradition of giving every child a voice, Amaraya Foundation’s media team interviewed all 63 candidates immediately after the exam – listening to their fears, their joy, their aspirations.

Two proud parents and three dedicated teachers were also interviewed, each testifying to how AMSSSMC has rekindled love for Mathematics, restored confidence in classrooms, and inspired a new culture of healthy academic competition across Imo State.

It was emotional. It was revealing. It was the real impact of touching lives.

Integrity to the Last Script

Immediately after the examination, marking commenced under the coordination of Mr. Luke Uwazie, with a team of seasoned Mathematics teachers. Scores were diligently recorded by the Secretary of the AMSSSMC, ensuring transparency, fairness and excellence – the hallmark of Amaraya Foundation.

The intensive exercise lasted until 5:15 p.m., a full day devoted to identifying and nurturing genius.
